Damaged Runner damage is one of the most common types of damage to metal containers. This damage is usually the result of being hit or improperly lifted by forklifts, although heavy sideloading of the container during handling (e.g., dropping the container) and other causes can also damage the runners. Examples of this type of damage are shown in the following photos (the damaged area on each container has been highlighted by white paint to make it easier to see):
The photo on the left shows a cracked runner weld -- a very common type of damage. This type of damage, if not repaired, can lead to the more serious problem shown in the photo on the right. In the right-hand photo, the runner has become detached from the basket. Since runners carry heavy loads and the space just above the runners is often used by forklift drivers to lift the baskets, cracked runner welds and loose runners and/or missing runners can be a potential safety problem, They can also generate safety hazards by allowing stacked containers to lean or by cracking/breaking when heavy loads are stacked on top of them. Best Weld can repair cracked runner welds and, if necessary, replace damaged runners. This type of repair is relatively inexpensive. |
