Separated Corner Post Corner posts occasionally become separated from their sides and/or cross-members. An example of this type of damage is shown in the following photo (the damaged area has been highlighted by white paint to make it easier to see):
This type of damage may indicate that the container has been subjected to loads well in excess of its design limits, making a careful inspection and analysis necessary before repairs are attempted. (A container which has been subjected to forces in excess of design limits may contain "hidden" damage that could make it or unsafe or inadvisable to repair.)
While it is usually possible to repair containers with separation at a corner post, these
repairs must be made carefully and only after a thorough search for "hidden"
damage and/or material over-stressing. Repairing this damage is a job for a skilled
and experienced specialist -- such as Best Weld. |
